The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy [4K UHD]

The nine-disc set includes the acclaimed film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy trilogy, "The Lord of the Rings," directed by Peter Jackson.

In the first installment, "The Fellowship of the Ring" (2001), Elijah Wood stars as the plucky hobbit Frodo Baggins, who inherits an arcane ring from his uncle Bilbo (Ian Holm). This sets Frodo on a perilous journey to prevent a great evil from enveloping Middle-earth. Meanwhile, Frodo (Elijah Wood) and his friend Sam (Sean Astin) are joined by the ring's twisted, former owner, Gollum (Andy Serkis), in their quest to Mordor. The film also features Christopher Lee, Miranda Otto, and Ian McKellen. The theatrical version is 179 minutes, and the extended edition is 4 hours.

The trilogy culminates with "The Return of the King" (2003), which won 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. As Frodo, Sam, and Gollum attempt to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, Aragorn embraces his destiny as the rightful ruler of Gondor, leading the armies of mankind into a final battle against Sauron's minions. The stellar ensemble cast includes Sean Astin, Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Miranda Otto, John Rhys-Davies, Andy Serkis, and Elijah Wood. The theatrical version is 3 hours and 21 minutes, while the extended edition is 4 hours and 23 minutes.

The nine-disc set is presented in widescreen format with Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks in English, French, and Spanish, and subtitles in those languages as well as English for the deaf and hard of hearing.
